I was born in Durham, North Carolina because there was no hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. My family moved many times so I have lived in many cities in the United States growing up, but graduated from high school in East Lansing, Michigan, where my love for Art really grew. My family moved to Houston in 1955 where I started University of Houston in the Design Department (which was then under the Home Economics Department). I ultimately got a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Art then several years later a masters degree in Guidance and Counseling. After college, I taught school and art in the summers to all grades. I wrote an Elementary Art Curriculum Guide for the school district and was very involved in the Rodeo Art program.
After teaching and counseling children I made a career change in 1980. I went into real estate and have had great success as a sales associate for 23 years with Martha Turner Properties. I am blessed with a high energy level which allows me to balance a busy real estate career which I love, along with my passion for painting and creating art. I am married to businessman, Jim Pruitt and together we have four children and 10 grandchildren.
Art has always been an important part of my life, from childhood until now. Even though I have had other careers, I have always left time to express myself creatively. The pictures of my paintings are mixed media of watercolor, pencil acrylic and collage. They reflect my love of nature in representational work as well as experimentation with abstract shapes with varied colors, form, line and design. It is extremely satisfying to be able to create, and I am pleased to share my work with you. Enjoy!
